Recipients of the William O. Goggins Journalism Award must demostrate financial need, academic potential, promise in the field of writing/journalism, community involvement, a commitment to the pursuit of higher education and a vision for their future.
Awards are based on the folowing criteria:
Resume detailing academic achievement, especially in the field of writing/journalism, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.
Essay (one page length) expressing applicant’s goals for the future and how they hope to achieve them or a sample of applicant’s writing.
A $500 scholarship will be warded annually to a graduating student at SCC showing promise in the field of writing.
